Alumna Brooke Luiken graduated from Westmont College with a BS in kinesiology in 2014. She went on to complete a 12-month accelerated Nursing program and receive her BSN at Samuel Merritt University. Brooke has worked on postpartum units with mothers and well babies as well as on a high-risk antepartum unit, participating in obstetric emergencies and caring for women during delicate and sensitive pregnancies.
Educating patients on their health conditions, and training new nurses has always been a fulfilling experience for Brooke. Her love for education allowed her to transition seamlessly into a teaching position at Westmont. At Westmont Nursing, Brooke is a clinical instructor who works with students in maternal/child health nursing and public health nursing. She also works as a Nurse Mentor and Success Coordinator advising current and future nursing students as they prepare to enter the nursing field. In the Fall of 2024, Brooke helped launch the peer mentor program at Westmont Nursing. The program allows 2nd-semester nursing students to mentor and assist new students as they begin the accelerated nursing program.
