Concert to Feature Eight Westmont Cellists

The Cellists of Westmont College perform a special concert of cello music from the 18th-20th century on Sunday, April 10, at 3 p.m. in 1st Congregational Church, 2101 State Street. The eight cellists will be joined by Celeste Tavera, Westmont voice instructor. The performance is free and open to the public.
Nona Pyron, who earned bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees from USC, is Westmont’s cello instructor. She says the performance includes a diverse repertoire that stretches from Bach to Villa Lobos and Vasks.
Student cellists include Tiffany Galindo, Daniel Gee, Alexandra Nguyen, Rebecca Shasberger, Shannon Switzer, Benjamin Vanderwall, Micah Whitcomb and Kathleen Wong.
