Graduating Seniors to Put Art on Display

Westmont’s senior art majors present their final art work as undergraduates in the annual senior show, “Senior Exhibition 2011: We Are Here,” from April 7 through May 7 in the Westmont Museum of Art. Sixteen studio art majors will display their works, the first graduating class to exhibit in the new Westmont Museum of Art in the Adams Center for the Visual Arts. An opening reception on Thursday, April 7, from 4-6 p.m. is free and open to the public.
“The range of work is eclectic and multi media,” says Judy L. Larson, Askew professor of art and director of the Westmont Museum of Art. “This year the students are really pushing boundaries and thinking big. I think they are responding to the generous proportions of our new gallery.”
Joy Brenneman will present the senior exhibition’s second-ever performance art. Other works include printmaking, painting, installation, surfboard design, fashion, drawings, digital paintings, ceramics, and stone and metal sculptures.
The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, contact the museum at (805) 565-6162 or art@westmont.edu. For directions to campus, visit the college website at www.westmont.edu.
