“Form and Function: Ceramic Artists in California” opens in the Westmont Museum of Art with a public reception Thursday, November 18, 4-6 p.m. The exhibition, on display through Dec. 18, is the second in the new Adams Center for the Visual Arts.
This is Westmont’s fourth ceramics invitational, this year featuring work from 16 California artists: Christopher Bates, Richard Burkett, Marc Digeros, Rae Dunn, James Haggerty and Linda Haggerty, Otto Heino, Mary Law, Forrest Lesch-Middelton, Tricia McGuigan, Lynne Meade, Scott Parady, Deanna Pini, Joan Rosenberg-Dent, Chris Rupp and Jan Schachter.
These artists showcase the breadth of functional and sculptural ceramic art being created by contemporary California potters, using a spectrum of techniques. Work from the exhibition will be for sale at a wide range of price points with proceeds benefitting the artists and the museum.
“In the past, many pieces have made wonderful holiday gifts ranging in price from $12 to several thousand dollars,” says Judy Larson, Askew professor of art and director of the museum.
The Westmont Museum of Art is open weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed on Sundays and school holidays. It will be closed for Thanksgiving, Nov. 25-28. For more information, contact the museum at (805) 5656162 or art@westmont.edu.
