Spring Sing Reaches Out
By
Westmont
This year, more than ever, we are delighted to be hosting Spring Sing 2009 at the Santa Barbara County Bowl on Saturday, April 4, at 6:30 pm.
I say "This year more than ever" because many of us only know of Spring Sing as a mysterious and distracting tradition that doubles as a dominating preoccupation for students around this time of year. Many of us also know that these students learn invaluable lessons in leadership and team dynamics, as well as the importance of hard work, creativity, and follow-through from their experience with this co-curricular program.
But this year is different, because this year we are newly aware of and thankful for our traditions which pull us outside of ourselves and point us to bigger things. Things which remind us to be thankful and joyful in the midst of recovery and grief. As Ben reminded us at the first chapel after the Tea fire, quoting Ecclesiastes: "There is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance."
Every year, the students pour their hearts into this beloved tradition. This year, they will also be taking donations for the Westmont Wildfire Relief Fund at intermission. They are doing their best to produce a show that honors the place and people they love so much.
The theme for Spring Sing this year is: "No Assembly Required."
Thanks for your support.
