Westmont Chapel CD Travels to 'City of God'

The Campus Pastor’s Office has released its sixth chapel CD entitled “City of God,” a double-disc compilation of vibrant music. The album’s title, taken from St. Augustine’s classic literary work, is based off this year’s chapel theme.
The first disc, recorded live in chapel, is a diverse sampling of modern worship music performed by the Westmont Worship Team, including contemporary black gospel, modern rock and modern Latin American. There are also several original songs written by Joel Patterson, director of music and worship, and orchestrated by Westmont junior Trevor Welch, including “Even There Your Hand Will Guide,” written in response to last year’s Jesusita Fire.
The second disc, a compilation of orchestral and choral music, includes “Jupiter” from The Planets by Gustav Host, “A Tragic Overture” by Johannes Brahms and “Come Unto Me,” an original piece by Westmont alumnus Michael Bennett ’09.
The artwork for the CD was created by alumnus Taylor Gray ’09.
This CD, which is currently available at the Westmont Bookstore and Campus Pastor’s Office, will be available on iTunes in June 2010. Music from all five previous chapel CDs dating back to 2004 are available for purchase and download through the iTunes Store.
Previous CDs include “All the Saints” from 2009, “The Sea Will Resound” from 2008, “In the Sanctuary” from 2007, “Before All Things” from 2006 and “The Love of God” from 2004.
